How do I set up boarding prices and room types?

Add your room types and rooms

1. Go to Settings › Services & pricing › Rooms & capacity and click New room type.
2. Name it, like Suites. Under For, Boarding is already ticked. Tick Daycare too if daycare pets use the same rooms.
3. Set Pets per room. Pets from one family can share a room. If the rooms have a weight limit, fill in Heaviest pet. Turn on Prevent overbooking if staff shouldn’t be able to book past the last free room of this type.
4. Click + Add rooms, fill in How many and the First name, and click Add (it shows the number, such as Add 5). AllPaws numbers the rooms for you, such as Suite 1 to Suite 5.
5. Click Save changes.

Under When rooms are free again, choose whether a room can take the next pet on the day a pet goes home, after its pick-up time, or the day after.

Add a boarding rate

Set up your taxes first, under Settings › Services & pricing › Taxes, so you can add them to the rate.

1. Go to Settings › Services & pricing › Boarding prices and click Add a rate.
2. Choose how it’s charged: Per night, Per day, Per hour, Half day, Morning or Afternoon.
3. Name the rate, tick its taxes, and choose whether customers can book it online.
4. Under Room prices, choose One price or By room type. Fill in what one pet pays (1 pet), then the 2nd pet and the 3rd pet and more sharing a room. A 2nd or 3rd pet left blank pays the same as the pet before.
5. Click Save changes.

To charge bigger pets more, click Add size prices and add an amount from each weight. Pets without a weight on file pay the largest size’s price. Preview your pricing shows what a night costs before taxes and fees.

Add longer-stay discounts

On the rate, under Longer stays, click Add a discount. Fill in the number of nights (a stay charged for that many nights or more gets it) and the discount, as % off or an amount off per night. It comes off each pet’s price for every night of the stay. If you add several, only the one for the most nights the stay reaches counts.

Tips

• To change prices from a date, open the rate and click Schedule a price change; a reservation keeps the prices in effect on the day it starts. If you change today’s prices instead and that would change current or upcoming reservations, AllPaws asks whether to Keep their prices or Update them.
• On a saved per-night or per-day rate, turn on Don’t charge the last night (or day) to charge a 4-night stay for 3 nights.
• On any saved per-night or per-day rate, Pickup and drop-off fees sets the late pickup, early drop-off and after-hours pickup fees, and a change there changes all of those rates. If your rates already have different fees, each keeps its own in its fees list instead.
• A room type added later starts unticked on rates priced by room type. Tick it on each rate that should offer it.
• If a booking shows No matching rates, it lists each rate and why it didn’t apply, such as a species the rate doesn’t cover.
